Other Notes: In 1970 Brett and Wendy Whiteley moved into their Lavender Bay, Sydney home. The view from the studio has been described as breathtaking and records the many moods of Whiteley's own stretch of the Sydney Harbour across his career. 'Lavender Bay in the Rain' 1984 screenprint was created with alignment, drawing inspiration and sharing a title from his 1974 oil work. The similarities in both mediums is uncanny, the soft hues of colour protruding across both works creating a calming and almost poetic form. The screenprint holds strong and sensual line work that merits a sampling of natural beauty with a modern touch from the 1974 painting.
